Why do I need a headshot?
Authenticity and Personality
People are searching for authenticity.
Research shows brand trust is at an all-time low. Ninety percent of consumers say they’re looking for authenticity. Two-thirds of customers are belief-driven buyers.
A good business headshot photographer will help you express yourself and your personality. This is your chance to shine and make a lasting impression.
A confidence boost
Overcoming British reserve and getting a cracking profile image will lift your confidence. When you look good, your confidence improves and you feel better about yourself.
A headshot is often about making a statement to yourself as well as others.
Enhance your next job search
A professional headshot is essential when looking to take the next step in your career.
Your online profile is as important as your written CV.
Recruiters often take online profiles into account when vetting potential candidates. They use your profile photo to gauge your personality and how professional you are. A professional headshot creates the right impression.
LinkedIn is an important business community. Research shows that profiles with photos get 21 times more views and 36 times more messages.
Without a headshot, you are limiting your opportunities. Recruiters may not even get as far as reading through your skills and expertise.
Your headshot is also important when looking to move up the career ladder. Senior roles are usually more visible within an organisation. Show your confidence and ability to thrive at this level.
Hire a corporate headshot photographer to help you convey your professionalism, knowledge and experience.
How do you work with me during my session?
Most of my clients do not like having their photo taken. Yet they know that professional headshots give them a huge image boost.
Your headshot is all about how you market yourself. I show you how to appear confident, professional, and trustworthy in front of a camera.
Coaching is my key to success. I coach you to look your best. It is that simple.
It is still a photo of you...but on your best day...Ever!
How do I choose the images I want?
At the end of your session, you browse through your images and choose the ones that you like.
Something to note: we are all biased to spot our imperfections and things that we do not like. Other people focus on different things.
I am your guide. I have seen countless headshots and know what makes a good impression. Imagine that I am your next client. I will tell you which photo makes you look the most confident and approachable.
I then retouch the image(s) you have selected.
What is retouching?
Retouching is a part of the production process after your headshot session.
I retouch all my images by hand, in-house.
This includes removing blemishes, softening under-eye circles, colour correcting, and more.
I keep your images looking natural. I go for subtle not plastic or fake! It's important that your headshot should actually look like you!
How do I get my images?
Delivery of your final retouched image(s) is in JPEG format via my secure online gallery.
There is no media, time, or location limit on your usage rights.
What is the best advice you can give me as I prepare for my session?
This is a great question and one I get asked most often. As an experienced corporate headshot photographer my advice is:
First of all, take care of yourself!
Eat well, drink lots of water, and take good care of your skin. Now is not the time to try a new skin treatment. Stay out of the sun as much as possible, and get a lot of sleep.
If you colour your hair or need a cut, make sure that you do this at least a week in advance. The cut can settle down and the colour can settle in before your shoot. Try to not tweeze or do any hair removal in the days leading up to the shoot.
Men, if you’d like a clean-cut look, shave before the shoot or during the shoot as desired. If you want to start with a beard or any facial hair, make sure that you have plenty of time to grow it before your shoot date.
What should I do the night before my headshot session?
Sleep!
The night before is when you should be sleeping, resting, and feeling relaxed.
Get a good night's sleep the night before. Don't go out drinking, don’t stay up too late, and don't get too stressed!
What do you say about makeup?
My recommendation is to wear the same amount as you would to a business meeting. If anything, go a tad lighter than usual. I can enhance makeup when retouching, but it is difficult to take it away.
Please note. Matte makeup under studio lights is much more flattering than shimmer or shine.
Everyone in my organisation needs a headshot - how much will it cost?
I base my group rates on the number of people having their headshots.
To estimate the cost for your group, get in contact. Discuss the scope of your project, and get specific pricing for your organisation.
What happens if I get sick / have an emergency?
I understand that life sometimes does not go to plan. Get in touch and I will do my best to rearrange a time that's good for us both.
When do you work?
I can be at your location anytime from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
I hate being photographed
Almost every client I work with says something like, "I hate being photographed." "When I have to look at the camera, I just freeze up." "I have never had a photo session that I enjoyed."
Trust me, it doesn’t have to be like any of the above statements!
I promise that I do everything in my power to make you comfortable and happy. I promise to bring understanding and kindness to your shoot. I create a great space for you to feel calm, empowered, and ready to not hate having a headshot!
Can I have my boyfriend / girlfriend / colleague, Mum / cat with me?
If you want to have someone with you in your session, you can. However, think about it before you decide!
It might be super fun to have someone to chat with or to have a familiar face in the room. But sometimes that can backfire and make you more nervous and uncomfortable. Being photographed is often easier in front of people you don't know.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have and help you book your headshot session!
